3D Concrete Printing: Rethinking How We Design and Build — Lessons from Built Projects
3D Concrete Printing: Rethinking How We Design and Build — Lessons from Built Projects
Speaker:
Kristyna Uhrova
Summary:
As 3D concrete printing moves from experimentation to real-world construction, architects need to understand not only how the technology works, but how to design for it. Drawing on five years of hands-on experience, this talk explores 3DCP through realised projects, from early design decisions to robotic fabrication and construction. Case studies introduce the technology, design-to-print workflow and key principles that distinguish additive manufacturing from conventional building methods. By examining both constraints and opportunities encountered in practice, the session demonstrates how 3DCP can enable new approaches to geometry, material use and customisation, while sharing practical lessons learned from designing and delivering built architecture.
This talk was delivered online on 29 Sep 2026. Talk duration is 47 minutes.
Speaker Bio:
Kristýna Uhrová is an architect and computational designer with five years of hands-on experience in 3D concrete printing and digital fabrication. As part of the architectural team at Coral Construction Technologies, she develops solutions for large-scale additive manufacturing and built projects. Her background includes computational design and the development of Monoceros for Grasshopper.
